The LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize, established in 2016, is an international award that recognises innovation, excellence, and artistic integrity in contemporary craftsmanship. Organised annually by the LOEWE FOUNDATION, the Prize underscores the evolving relevance of craft in today’s cultural landscape and reflects the foundation’s commitment to creative disciplines.
For its eighth edition, the Prize received over 4,600 submissions from artisans across 133 countries and regions. From this diverse global pool, 30 finalists representing 18 countries were selected by a panel of experts. Their works collectively offer a dialogue between tradition and innovation, responding to contemporary social and material questions through a multidisciplinary lens.
The winning work of the 2025 edition is Realm of Living Things 19 by Kunimasa Aoki, whose entry was recognised for its exceptional craftsmanship and conceptual depth. In addition, Studio Sumakshi Singh and Nifemi Marcus-Bello received special mentions for their pieces, Monument and TM Bench with Bowl.
The jury for the 2025 Prize comprised leading figures from the fields of art, architecture, and design, including past award winners, curators, designers, and scholars. The Prize exhibition will be hosted at the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum in Madrid, running from 30 May to 29 June 2025, with public entry offered free of charge. A digital exhibition accompanies the physical display, providing broader access to the works and the artists’ processes.
