The Horizon EU-funded Tracks4Crafts project, in which the ECA is a proud partner, has just released a vital policy brief arguing for a fundamental shift in how Europe values traditional crafts. The brief tackles a critical issue: the systemic invisibility of craft knowledge within major EU policy, education, and skills frameworks, which holds the sector back.

The document calls for crafts to be recognised, not as a relic of the past, but as a dynamic knowledge system essential for Europe’s future. It also offers concrete recommendations to update EU skills classifications, invest in hands-on learning, and fully integrate crafts into major strategies like the Green Deal.
