Deadline for applications: 30 June 2026

The Terracotta Biennial returns to La Bisbal d’Empordà from 23 to 25 October 2026. As the first World Craft City in continental Europe, the city will host an expansive programme highlighting contemporary ceramics, which includes a special conference space exploring clay as a driver of transformation. Alongside these dialogues, the organisation has officially issued an open call for creators to participate in the Creative Ceramics Gallery and the Terracotta Biennial Ceramics Award.

Located inside a pavilion at the Terracotta Museum, the gallery is a dedicated space for exhibiting and selling unique contemporary pieces. A selection committee will evaluate submissions and choose up to 30 exhibitors based on artistic quality, material innovation, and the dialogue between craft and art. Selected participants will receive a designated exhibition space complete with dedicated lighting and signage. A fifty percent discount is available for members of the local ceramics association and affiliates of the city brand.

All registered exhibitors are also eligible to submit one original piece for the Terracotta Biennial Ceramics Award. Sponsored by the local ceramics association, this prize recognises outstanding creativity and originality with a single financial award of 1,500€. The winning piece will become part of the permanent collection at the Terracotta Museum and will be prominently displayed in the living ceramics exhibition for an entire year.

Interested professionals must submit their applications by the official deadline on 30 June 2026. Submissions require a detailed conceptual description alongside clear photographs of the pieces. Complete participation terms and registration forms are available directly through the local Town Council portal.
