Stockholm Craft Week, Sweden’s largest event dedicated to contemporary crafts, returns this autumn from 30 September to 4 October 2026. Organised by the ECA member Swedish Crafts Centre (Konsthantverkscentrum) alongside Svensk Form and Konsthantverkarna, the event brings together numerous museums, galleries, and independent makers to put craft firmly in the spotlight across the capital. The 2026 edition will officially open on Wednesday, 30 September, with a major international conference titled Collaborating Craft.

The half-day seminar is hosted by the team behind the artist-led initiative Konsthantverkspodden. In a contemporary world that is increasingly centred around the individual, the conference proposes a bold alternative hypothesis. It explores how modern craft practitioners are moving in the opposite direction, choosing collaborative methods and collective processes as a more constructive path forward.

The event highlights several of these artistic initiatives across various contexts and features in-depth conversations with a diverse lineup of international makers:

  • Sarah Rachel Brown: An international jeweller, journalist, and host of the Perceived Value podcast, who focuses on improving the working conditions of makers and creating opportunities for cross-border connection.
  • Lulu Harrison: A glass artist who describes herself as a “Geo Alchemist”. She collaborates closely with chemists, glassblowers, and local fishermen to discover future alternatives for glassmaking using geological deposits and waste materials.
  • Åsa Dybwad Norman & Ben Lignel: The craft artists behind the project See me make, make me see, which engaged students from three major Nordic institutions to observe the act of creating and establish a new language for communicating creative processes.
  • Berenice Hernández: A multidisciplinary artist working across sculpture, video, and performance. Her projects often create dialogue between Swedish and Mexican artists while exploring recurring themes of place, belonging, and the power of architecture.

Stokholm Craft Week will also feature participation from our member, Norwegian Crafts, alongside the Saami Council (Samerådet).

Premiered in 2019 Stockholm Craft Week is Sweden’s largest event for contemporary crafts. The event is organised by Konsthantverkscentrum (The Swedish Crafts Centre), together with Svensk Form and Konsthantverkarna.
