Stockholm Craft Week returns this autumn from 30 September to 4 October. The 2026 edition features a city-wide programme of exhibitions, open studios, craft tours and talks focusing on contemporary craft practices.
The Collaborating Craft Conference
The event officially opens on 30 September with a half-day international conference at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern. The artist-led platform Konsthantverkspodden is hosting the session. The programming focuses entirely on collective processes and joint initiatives in contemporary craft. Speakers will examine how makers are actively moving away from individualistic models to share resources and knowledge. The speakers lineup features Sarah Rachel Brown, Lulu Harrison, Åsa Dybwad Norman and Ben Lignel, and Berenice Hernández.
Venues and Material Focus
Following the conference, the programme expands across Stockholm into museums, independent galleries, and active studio spaces. The schedule features a broad range of materials and techniques spanning nearly 90 independent artists, collectives, and institutions.
- Textiles and Metal: Konstfack students will present new works in textiles and metal at venues like Tekniska museet and Konserthuset.
- Historical Intersections: Heritage techniques meet contemporary design at the Almgren silk weaving museum and the historic Hallwylska museum.
- Glass and Ceramics: Dedicated craft cooperatives like blås & knåda and Kaolin will host specific material exhibitions alongside Galleri Glas.
Cross-Border Perspectives and Sámi Duodji
The programme also addresses cross-border craft conditions through a partnership between Norwegian Crafts and the Saami Council. Their participation focuses on Sámi duodji, the traditional craft and cultural practice of the Sámi people. The Saami Council will outline the specific political and structural obstacles that affect Sámi practitioners today, looking closely at policy frameworks and mobility issues. Norwegian Crafts connects this to their ongoing work in international market development, networking, and artist residencies.
Stockholm Crafts Week are organised by Konsthantverkscentrum (The Swedish Crafts Centre), a member of the ECA; Svensk Form, and Konsthantverkarna.
