Celebrating Europe’s Craft Geographical Indications

A craft object begins long before it is created in the workshop. It starts with the landscape. Clay drawn from local ground. Wood from nearby forests. Stone from a particular hillside or quarry. Wool from a native breed of sheep. They all leave their mark on what is crafted;  just as the techniques, knowledge and traditions that have developed in harmony with them.

From 6 to 8 November 2026, the European Crafts Alliance will present the Crafted Origins exhibition at the OFICI Traditional Craft Fair in Cardona, Spain, and online. The exhibition brings together works recognised, or currently under examination, within the European Union’s new Geographical Indications framework for craft and industrial products.

The exhibition is the first dedicated entirely to Geographical Indications for craft and industrial products. It traces the relationship between material, technique and territory through objects whose qualities depend on local resources, inherited knowledge and generations of practice. Each exhibited piece could only have been made where it was.

Open Call for Nominations

Nominations are now open for craft and industrial products to be considered for the exhibition. An independent jury will review all submissions and select the final works. Deadline for applications is 3 September 2026. Find out more>>

About Ofici

OFICI, Traditional Craft Fair, under the organization of the Consortium of Commerce, Crafts and Fashion of Catalonia (CCAM) and the agency Le Département with the support of the Department of Culture of the Government of Catalonia, is conceived as a space that highlights traditional trades in the current context, give visibility to and promote excellent artisanal work, as well as facilitating encounters between professionals, industry influencers, creators, and the general public. Beyond craftsmanship as its central axis, OFICI will integrate gastronomy, music, and various activities in a single space. The event will take place on November 6, 7, and 8, 2026.
