The Centre for Folk Art Production (ÚĽUV), a member of the ECA, has officially extended the application deadline for the 2026 edition of the Rings in Water (Kruhy na vode) international competition. The new deadline to submit your works is 15 July 2026!

This competition serves as a platform for dialogue between the past and the present, seeking works that reinterpret traditional craft values for the contemporary world. It is open to designers, craftsmen, artists, and students (both university and secondary level) from across the globe.

Participants are invited to submit works of applied art or design that draw inspiration from folk culture, whether through specific patterns, production methods, or the functional spirit of original artefacts. Rings in Water does not accept visualisations or 3D renders; only physical prototypes and finished products are eligible. Submitted works must be crafted primarily from traditional materials such as wood, metal, textiles, glass, ceramics, or horn.

The evaluation process takes place in two rounds, culminating in an exhibition of the selected works in Bratislava.
