Norwegian Crafts has launched an open call for editorial proposals to lead the twelfth issue of their online magazine, The Vessel. The upcoming edition will focus on the theme of the ‘STUDIO’, marking the final chapter in a three-part series that previously explored the concepts of the home and the garden.
This issue aims to examine the diverse physical and relational environments that enable contemporary craft practices. Applicants are invited to propose editorial frameworks that investigate making spaces in all their forms, whether they are permanent or provisional, solitary or shared, or spread across multiple locations to serve different stages of the creative process.
The opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality who possess a strong interest in material culture and are comfortable writing and editing in English. While the call is distinctly international, proposals must include a clear strategy for highlighting the Norwegian or Norway-based contemporary crafts sector.
The selected guest editor will collaborate closely with the Norwegian Crafts team and receive an honorarium, with separate funding secured to compensate all contributing writers, photographers, and artists. Applications detailing a thematic vision, potential content types, and proposed contributors must be submitted by 30 April 2026.
