Deadline for applications: 3 July 2026
The Malta Crafts Foundation is inviting experienced business coaches and mentors to express their interest in joining an approved directory of experts. This curated list will serve as a trusted resource for artisans and craft enterprises looking for professional guidance in product development, commercialisation, and market readiness. By connecting creators with skilled mentors, the Foundation aims to help artisans transform workshop-based experimentation into commercially viable products, all while preserving the rich cultural value of Maltese craftsmanship.
Scope of Support and Mentoring Areas
Approved mentors will be engaged directly by the artisans to provide tailored one-to-one support or group workshops. Depending on the specific needs of the maker, areas of focus may include product refinement, prototype feedback, and route-to-market planning. Mentors might also assist with pricing strategies, business model development, branding, packaging, and sustainable product positioning. The goal is to build long-term resilience and help makers transition their creative storytelling into a strong commercial reality.
Funding and Remuneration Details
For projects supported under Foundation initiatives, the total value of the mentoring services is capped at 2,000€ per project. When applying, interested professionals must provide an indicative hourly rate for their coaching services. This proposed rate will remain valid for a period of two years from the date of inclusion in the approved directory. Applicants are also required to outline at least two examples of their mentoring methodologies, clearly stating the estimated number of hours required and the total cost for each approach.
Eligibility and Professional Profile
The Foundation is specifically looking for professionals with a solid background in business development, entrepreneurship support, or mentoring within the creative, design, or craft sectors. A minimum of five years of experience supporting early-stage enterprises is highly valued. Preference will be given to experts who combine strong business acumen with a practical understanding of how to collaborate with small creative enterprises. Mentors must be able to operate with empathy and independence while challenging makers constructively.
Application Process and Deadlines
Interested professionals are invited to submit their applications by Friday, 3 July 2026. Submissions must include a professional profile or Curriculum Vitae, a short motivation statement, portfolio links, and a detailed description of relevant mentoring experience.
