The Distributed Design Conference: Making (in) Commons will take place in Barcelona, Spain, on Thursday, 16 October 2025.

This important event will bring together the global Distributed Design community, the hyper-local Xarxa Ensemble network, and the make-a-thek project, a Horizon Europe initiative in which the ECA is a partner. The conference will explore how collaborative, regenerative, and community-driven practices emerge at different scales, focusing on the idea of a “commons of practice”—a shared space where knowledge, skills, and materials converge.

As part of the program, the European Crafts Alliance will contribute to a key panel discussion (16.00 CET) on how local craft and makerspaces can create networks with global reach.

ECA Secretary General, Laura Miguel Baumann, will join the panel alongside fellow experts Agnese Gualandi and Andrea Ascani of the OpenDot Foundation (Italy), and Anja Zorko from the Center for Creativity (Slovenia).

The conference serves as a vital platform for networking and knowledge exchange, celebrating the release of the Driving Design trilogy and fostering a collective milestone for distributed practices.
