From 24 November 2024 to 16 February 2025, the sixth edition of the European Prize for Applied Arts is showcased at the Anciens Abattoirs in Mons. This exhibition brings together some of the most talented makers in contemporary applied arts. Showcasing around 100 unique works by 58 artists from 16 European countries, the pieces were selected through a Europe-wide open call that received over 500 applications. Two works received special recognition: Emilie Palle Holm (Denmark) was awarded 3.500€ by the Ministry of Culture of the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, and Lotte Westphael (Denmark) received 3.500€ from the European Crafts Alliance (ECA).
The exhibition celebrates excellence in craftsmanship across a wide range of materials, including ceramics, glass, metal, wood, paper, and contemporary jewelry. The showcased works demonstrate technical mastery and aesthetic innovation, reflecting the modern evolution of traditional crafts. Today’s makers are pushing boundaries by incorporating new materials and techniques, blending ancient traditions with contemporary creativity.
