MAESTRIA – European Prize For Applied Arts

Through the open call, an exhibition and a bilingual catalogue, artists from various European countries showcase their work, highlighting European trends and values. The call is open to creators residing in Europe with the competition including various disciplines of applied arts, excluding industrially produced items, while sustainability, diversity and social inclusion will be integral to the selection criteria. 2 prizes valued at 3,500€ are awarded.

The exhibition aims to offer the best of what is done in Europe, through technically and aesthetically mastered creations. It showcases the artistic crafts of ceramics, glass, goldsmithing, wood, textiles, paper, contemporary jewellery… all creations that call upon mastery of gesture. Beyond know-how, it is the contemporary character of these creations that is just as important to present. Today’s creators are breaking free from traditional codes to question the world. New materials and new techniques are added to traditional recipes to reveal an art form that is as modern as it is ancient, as codified as it is reactionary.
