A new, free-access guide detailing the history and creation of a Danubian-Italian shirt has been published by the Romanian organisation Semne Cusute.
The research was conducted as part of the Tracks4Crafts project, a European co-funded initiative in which the ECA is a key partner.
The project is a fascinating piece of cultural research, tracing a 17th-century Italian shirt style on its 400-year journey to the Danube region. The guide documents how the style was adopted and eventually blended with traditional Black Sea lace techniques.
The result is a modern, wearable piece that brings a hidden part of shared European heritage into today’s wardrobe. The full guide, complete with patterns and video tutorials, is available for free download.
