The Fondation d’entreprise Martell, based in Cognac, France, has launched its open call for the 2026–2027 residency programme. The initiative invites practitioners across craft, design, architecture, visual arts, and the humanities to develop projects addressing contemporary ecological, social, and regional transformations.

Open to candidates of all nationalities and career stages, the programme encourages interdisciplinary work and welcomes applications from both individual practitioners and collectives.

The Foundation structures its support across three distinct residency formats to accommodate different stages of research and production:

  • Research and Experimentation (6 to 8 weeks): Focused on initial research, conceptual development, and prototyping. Residents are encouraged to connect with the local Charentes region, utilizing the Foundation’s resources to test experimental processes.

  • Production (2 to 6 weeks): Dedicated to the physical execution and production of objects or works. Residents gain direct access to specialized workshops. Projects partnered with external institutions can also apply for this format as production support.

  • Writing and Curatorship (2 to 4 weeks): Summer residencies designed for writers, curators, critics, and scholars in the humanities working on theoretical, literary, or critical projects.

Selected residents receive a practical package of financial, technical, and logistical backing:

  • Weekly Stipend: €375 per week (€175 for living costs and a €200 work stipend).

  • Production Allowance: Up to €2,500 depending on project needs.

  • Travel and Housing: Private accommodation near the Foundation, weekday lunches, and round-trip travel reimbursement (up to €500 within France, or up to €1,500 internationally).

  • Workshop Access: Technical guidance, use of production workshops, access to the Living Archive, research library, and digital photo studio.

The deadline for applications is 23 August 2026 at 23.59 CET.
