Deadline for applications: Friday, 2 October 2026

Farnham World Craft Town is offering an exciting 4 to 6 week residency in Surrey, UK, during Spring 2027. As England’s first World Craft Town, Farnham is committed to supporting makers through dedicated residencies, asking selected artists to create a unique piece inspired by the local area to join their craft collection.

The Residency Experience

Hosted at the Farnham School of Furniture Making, one of the most respected centres for furniture education in the UK, the programme provides artists with the space to develop their own ideas and create a new body of work. A collaborative approach is highly encouraged, allowing the resident to work with local materials and makers, engage on social media, and interact with the student body and wider community.

What the Residency Offers

The fully funded programme offers covered travel costs, living expenses, a financial contribution toward materials, and free studio space along with accommodation. Additionally, the resident will have a wonderful opportunity to exhibit the new body of work created during their time in Farnham.

Who Should Apply

While creatives at all stages of development are encouraged to apply, priority this year will be given to artists working in wood and furniture making. This includes specialisms such as cabinet making, hand cut joinery, marquetry, wood turning, carving, coopering, and working with sustainable or reclaimed timber. Applications from makers based in other World Craft Towns are particularly welcome!

The deadline to submit your proposal is 17.00 GMT on Friday, 2 October 2026.
