The European Commission has just published a draft regulation to support the EU’s main law on geographical indications (Regulation (EU) 2023/2411) —and is now inviting public feedback.
This new act clarifies the specific procedures for applying for a geographical indication. It details exactly what documentation is required, how to submit applications to the EU Intellectual Property Office, the rules for direct registration, and the official process for making an appeal.
Businesses, organizations, and other interested parties are encouraged to provide their views. The public feedback period is open until 28 July 2025.
