Asociación para la Creación Textil / ACT
The Asociación para la Creación Textil (ACT) is the national successor to the association founded in 1988, created to promote textile craftsmanship and an ecosystem for the professional growth of its members. ACT spreads the values of textile culture – heritage, creation, and knowledge transfer—through various activities. Conceiving of craft as interwoven with society, ACT collaborates widely to integrate it into the post-digital world, valuing the preservation of ancestral knowledge, the rich meanings of textile objects, and the work of the anonymous women who preserved these techniques. Finally, aware of the textile industry’s negative aspects, ACT believes craft’s values can help create a state of public opinion that promotes much-needed changes in sustainability.
