Join the celebration of craft at Center Rog! Visitors will get the chance to explore the magic of artisan skills and dive into various forms of creativity – from jewelry and ceramics to textiles and fashion. The celebration also brings guided tours, workshops, and demonstrations by skilled artisans who will share their knowledge and passion for craftsmanship.

Knitted Heart made of Golden Thread

The golden thread of the activity is wheat straw. Wheat straw has connected people in the Pomurje region for centuries – in addition to the food provided by wheat, straw was also used for thatching roofs. Over time, people also began to weave decorative objects from straw. To promote and preserve these craft heritage skills and transfer craft knowledge participants will explore wheat straw, weaving techniques, and create decorative woven straw products themselves.

Initiated and coordinated since 2002 by l’Institut pour les Savoir-Faire Français, the European Artistic Crafts Days (EACD) have evolved from a French event into a week-long celebration of crafts and craftspeople across Europe. Over the course of two years, the European Crafts Alliance, via the Crafting project co-funded by the European Union, has provided financial and organisational support to over 100 events across Europe. The events listed above are supported by ECA grants in 2025.
