The Crafting Nature exhibition opens at the Gyldne Sal Moltkes Palae Hall in Copenhagen, Denmark from 9 to 26 June 2026 as part of the 3daysofdesign event. Organised by the Deputy Ministry of Culture alongside ECA member the Cyprus Handicraft Service, the exhibition celebrates the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Curator Thalea Stefanidou brings together seventeen contemporary Cypriot artists to explore the profound bond between craftsmanship and the natural world. Speaking on the core vision of the project, Stefanidou notes that the showcase explores and highlights the enduring relationship between craftsmanship and nature, from historical to the most contemporary and innovative techniques. The curatorial direction specifically privileges works where transhistorical elements of cultural heritage are clearly evident.

“Materials, forms, patterns, and structures are the key concepts for the contemporary artisan, who, as a true creator, reexamines traditional and ancestral techniques, adapting them to the demands and challenges of the modern era.”

Thalea Stefanidou, curator of the exhibition

Visitors will discover ceramics, microsculpture, fine jewellery, and textile arts forged from local clay, stone, wood, glass, metal, and threads. The participating craftspeople draw deeply from their local environment to create pieces that blend tradition with modern aesthetics.

The exhibition architecture by Konstantinos Kounnis and the visual identity by Kostas Mantzalos further elevate the presentation to affirm a clear visual statement based on the uniqueness of Cyprus as a vibrant and energetic place.

The opening will take place on 9 June with Deputy Minister of Culture Dr Vasiliki Kassianidou.
