This year, the ECA member Danish Crafts & Design Association (DKoD) is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Founded in 1976, DKoD has grown from a grassroots movement into a powerful national voice representing professional members.
Shaping the Cultural Landscape
DKoD drives major initiatives like the Biennial of Crafts & Design, the Frue Plads Market, and the practical Green Crafts & Design Guide. Physically, they run Officinet, a dedicated exhibition space housed in a historic 1757 hospital pavilion in Copenhagen. Digitally, they publish Formkraft, a curated journal that provides a freely accessible archive of digitised design publications spanning from 1948 to 2009.
A Political Vision for the Future
Led by Chair Hanne B. Sønnichsen, DKoD is heavily focused on the political sphere, fighting for a dedicated national design policy that fully embraces arts and crafts. Their ultimate goals are securing a permanent, state-funded exhibition venue for Danish craft and cementing a lasting place for the sector in the national budget.
We wish DKoD a wonderful jubilee year!
