This year, Norwegian Association for Arts and Crafts (NK) is celebrating 50 years of supporting artists and makers in Norway. The organization was established in 1975 and has since worked to improve conditions for craft professionals, while nationally and promoting and supporting contemporary crafts.

Over the years, NK has helped shape key policies, launched exhibitions, founded galleries like Format and KRAFT, and supported artists and makers through funding and international opportunities.

The anniversary is marked with events across the country, including exhibitions, talks, and special programmes that highlight both NK’s history and the growing interest in craft today. The centrepiece of the celebration is the exhibition Skudd, Fangst og u(Ro) on display until 7 September 2025, at Deichman Bjørvika, the main library in Oslo, that explores the role of contemporary crafts in society.
